Heaney Fam | Home Sweet Homecoming
Get your tissues ready, folks, because this one? It's a doozy.
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but sometimes you just have to see it to believe it.
Meet Rosalind and her husband Daniel who just returned home after 183 days. They totally had a countdown. When Daniel first deployed, their daughter Teagan was only 3 months old and their 5 year old son Cole started training for how fast he could run to his dad whenever he'd return. Cole understood that dad was away, so Rosalind got to work with helping him make a Welcome Home poster for dad "just in case". The kid had absolutely no idea that TODAY was the day that his dad would be scooping him up into his arms again.
It was until we were about to get into the car to head to the hanger that Rosalind told Cole to grab the poster he made and bring it with him. It took just a moment for him to put two and two together before exclaiming, "Wait! Is daddy going to be there?!" Girrrrrl they haven't even seen each other yet and we're already bawling. Hold me.
Rosalind's priority was to capture Cole's reaction to Daniel coming home. When the crowds broke and Cole finally saw his Daddy, he took off in a sprint and Daniel scooped him into the grizzliest of bear hugs. Grizzly hugs turned into group hugs with kisses included. Excuse me for a moment. Just melting over here. Teagan was a bit overwhelmed at first, until her Daddy gave her a solid high-five. That always does the trick! Then she was as obsessed with her Daniel as Cole was. All of the smiles and giggles.
The family was so happy to be back together. Can we just say? BEST Mother's Day gift ever!
