2016 | Year in Review
2016. If I had to use one word to describe this year, it would be FRIENDSHIP! When I reflect on this year, the overwhelming feeling that stands out is one of true connection. As a wedding photographer, my priority list looks like this:
- Create an amazing experience and show my clients that they are KNOWN.
- Create kick-ass photos.
More than anything, I want to know the heart of these people who get my camera shoved into their faces. I crave authenticity and laughter and vulnerability and straight-up realness. Throw a pretty couple in pretty clothes into a gorgeous forest with golden light, and you'll easily be able to create a pretty picture. This year though, I aimed to do more. I challenged, how can I create more than just a pretty picture? How can I capture the uniqueness of each individual in one tiny frame?
It starts with friendship and trust for me. Genuinely wanting to know who my clients are. Showing clients that they are more than just a subject for my camera. Treating them like my actual friends, because I truly desire their friendship. Earning their trust by being vulnerable myself!
I'm so so so grateful for the lasting friendships that have been created in 2016. Thank you to every single one of my clients for being vulnerable with me and letting me see your quirks!
2017, you’ve got a lot to live up to…
